A. Murid Partaw
Welcome to my website! I'm delighted to have you here and eager to introduce myself and my academic pursuits.
I'm Murid Partaw, a passionate researcher and scholar dedicated to exploring the intricate dynamics of state-building, legitimacy-building, and the complex processes of legitimization within a state. At the heart of my academic journey lies a profound curiosity about how states construct and garner legitimacy, particularly in contexts where this essential component is often lacking. My primary focus is on fragile states, where governments grapple with the daunting task of achieving legitimacy and, consequently, regime stability.
One of my central areas of inquiry delves into the concept of state legitimacy. I'm fascinated by the mechanisms through which states endeavor to earn legitimacy in the eyes of their citizenry. This quest for legitimacy is a pivotal determinant of a government's success or failure, impacting its ability to maintain peace, provide security, and foster development.
In my research, I study the complex terrain of conflict and insurgencies, delving into the intricate web of factors that fuel or quell these volatile forces. My studies encompass the realm of peace and security studies, where I seek to unravel the complexities of conflict resolution, post-conflict reconstruction, and the delicate balance between peacebuilding and state stability.
Through this website, I aim to share my research, insights, and discoveries with a broader audience. Whether you're an academic enthusiast, a fellow researcher, or simply curious about the fascinating world of state-building, legitimacy, and conflict, you'll find a wealth of information and thought-provoking discussions here. I am an alumnus of the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA) in Washington, DC. Before transitioning to academia, I held the esteemed position of Afghanistan's Senior National Representative (SNR) to the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM). My research contributions have been featured in prominent academic journals, including the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies and the Journal of Political Science and Public Affairs.
